Case study : Construction industry
Over a two-year period, the Lloyd-Jones Meakin Group rolled out a comprehensive behavioral safety program for a large construction company with major impact. The milestones in the program included a Current State Analysis survey and strategic change plan, safety leadership skills training for senior managers, establishing and facilitating a safety leadership team, implementing a program of safety observations and developing and implementing a communication strategy. All these activities helped to raise safety awareness significantly and elevate safety to become a strategic business process.
The project had long-term and significant impact with a dramatic reduction in lost time injury frequency rates, medical treatment injuries and near misses. At the same time, operational employee morale has increased noticeably, site safety committees have become an effective management tool. Furthermore, workers compensation and other safety related costs dropped significantly.
